Platinum Trifles

Platinum is prehistorically been found in meteorites that formerly had an impact around two billion years ago. Nearly 80% of the world’s supply is excavated in South Africa whereas North America and Russia are other sources. However, there are certain limitations on its supply as it is a very uncommon commodity.

Previously, the use of Platinum was basically observed in olden Egypt decorations, the complicated hieroglyphics observed on the document container that belongs to the High Priestess Schepenupet, circa BC700 decorated with Platinum.

Owing to its high melting temperature it failed to become one of the familiar metal jewelry upto mid 1880s. But if seen today, there are few of the world’s supreme gems that are bounded by this precious metal. One of the popular is a Hope Diamond.
